This year I will be turning 30!!! Where and how that happened? I have no idea,,, What I do know, is that it has taken me a very long time to accept myself. As a matter of fact, I'm currently still working on it. Through the years I have struggled with learning to love myself. Never completely content with my appearance. Whether it was my teeth, face, features, body. You name it! In the past I have even contemplated getting surgery. What stopped me? The money of course! As well as the scary stories told by friends. Which often times they hear from others.
Postpartum, I suffered from weight gain. It took me years to loose the weight. Even then, my body is not perfect. Does that define me? Do my looks define me? Of course NOT! I know that; However that doesn't change the fact that I obsess over my weight, and constantly weigh myself.
My point with all this rambling is, that it's never too late to learn to LOVE yourself. No-one is perfect. Many people, if not most, dislike something about themselves. The only thing we have left to do, is accept who we are and move on. But how can I say I love myself, when I don't accept myself? That is why I do things to accept myself, and truly show myself love.
Those "things" are going to the gym. Making time for myself to exercise body. Eating healthy in order to be healthy. Self Care... (I'm starting a routine to wash my face and moisturize at night.) I wear my favorite lipstick on those days when I'm not feeling myself. I use my favorite perfume. Smelling my favorite scent throughout the day makes me happy.
These are some of my favorite items I'm currently using in my self care journey.
Skin care: My daily face moisturizer is Aveeno ultra calming daily moisturizer; It's great for sensitive skin. The only moisturizer that helped me clear rosacea. To wash my face I switch between Fresh Soy face cleanser and Origins A perfect world antioxidant cleanser with white tea. I also use an activated charcoal bar soap, I purchased locally. Support your local small businesses!
Perfume: My favorite scent is Candy by Prada. I'm also really enjoying SI by Giorgio Armani. I wrote a post over searching for the perfect scent. Check it out here and see where I got my favorite scents from.
Currently my favorite lipsticks are: Wet n wild megaslicks Balm Stain in the color 127 "A stiff pink".
& Loreal LE MATTE in color 102 "She's so matte".
Love yourself and accept yourself. It will not only make you confident but also attract more love into your life.
Also I recently cut off all my hair. All I can say is, I have never felt more liberated and confident than I do now. I'm so happy that at this point in my life, about to turn 30; I can feel as confident as I currently do.
Thank you for reading my thoughts. & don't forget to show yourself some love today!
Xoxo,
Carla
