There are 52 days left until Christmas. & If you are like me, then you probably do your Christmas shopping before the stores get chaotic. However, we all know that most people are always out doing their Christmas shopping at the last minute. Personally I like to have all the gifts ahead of time because the gift wrapping kills me. It takes me way too long to wrap gifts for all our family. But I must say, I do enjoy going shopping the days before Christmas. Reason is, the sales!!! Ohhh the sales... I mean who doesn't like to score all the gifts on their list at a cheaper price? & a little something for yourself while you're at it.
I know that Christmas isn't just about gifts & presents. I fully support every one's beliefs and personal opinions. In our home and families home, we take it as a time to be together and celebrate with each other.
This year, my partner & I decided we will only be getting 1 gift for each of our family members.
Backstory: We are a family that loves to clearance shop. We always check the clearance sections. My partner's favorite clearance is the toy clearance. Usually we would always stock up and buy a bunch of toys for Christmas gifts. Since we used to get such good deals on toys etc... We were able to get 3-4 gifts for each person. However our nieces & nephews are growing up. They don't all like toys the same way they used to.
Which brings us back to the 1 gift per person. We decided it will not only be better for our pockets, but also easier on the gift wrapping part.
We may not be able to follow through with the 1 gift per person rule with our son. (We will more than likely exclude him)
& so for all you savvy shoppers, I have put together a list of gifts, that I feel would be greatly appreciated by your loved ones.
For the coffee lover...
Now a days, almost every household has a single cup coffee maker. But if the person you are shopping for does not. I highly recommend the Hamilton Beach flex brew single cup coffee maker. We have one in our house & love it. It's incredibly easy to use. Not only can I make coffee but also tea. When I feel like drinking a cup of chamomile tea. I just put the tea bag in my cup and run it normally with water. I let my tea bag steep in my cup for about 1 minute and I get to enjoy and relax with my tea. What I like about it too is that it can be used with k cups or ground coffee.
While there are many people who prefer the Keurig brand, we opted for this one because it was more economically friendly. You can find the Hamilton Beach flex brew single cup coffee maker here.
If you'd rather get a Keurig, I will say that you can also find those at really good prices during the holidays. Check Freestufffinder.com she usually posts amazing deals a week early. & you'll probably be able to score a Keurig for a economically friendly price as well.
For teachers...
While we are on the coffee & tea subject. This gift is perfect as a token of appreciation for your childs teacher.
All you need is a cute basket, coffee or tea (or both) celophane paper, cute ribbon, and some chocolate. You could also include other goodies such as cookies, notepads, nice pens etc... Think of the items your child's teacher uses daily in her classroom or anything you'd appreciate. Even a new shade of lipstick!!!
Build the basket by adding tissue paper on the bottom of the basket to hold all the items. Arrange the items neatly and wrap with the celophane. Add the bow as a finishing touch. (I'll be making one this year for my sons teacher and will make a post to show how easy homemade gifts are.)
For the men in your lives...
If your husband, brother or even father is into the beard trend. Here are a few gift ideas.
This shirt is so fun... It's supposed to be a measuring tool for their beards!!! Found on Etsy here.
I gave this set to my love last year and he loved it. He even carries the little comb in his pants pocket.
For grandparents...
We usually give each one an individual gift based on their interests. My father in law loves chocolate & nuts. & so we always include some with his gifts. All grandparents love their grandchildren. Right?!?!Personalized gifts are a great way to touch their hearts and make them happy. In the past I made my mother in law a scrapbook full of family pictures. It was really time consuming though. I suggest making a photo book on shutterfly. Many companies offer codes for free photo books. All you have to pay is shipping!!! Most of you probably get these emails & either delete or junk them. Check your emails! Or you can also check freestufffinder.com to see if she has any promo codes that are current.
Etsy is also a wonderful place to find personalized gifts. Fun shirts for the grandpa in your life. Here are a few of my personal faves.
For grandma's you can score amazing face products or cosmetics during Ulta's holiday sales. This year I'm going to be looking for a lipstick gift set. Or a skin care set. (This whole 1 gift per person is harder than I thought.)
For my mom I will be taking her to get a makeover. A day of getting her hair cut and styled. For gifts like these, I suggest checking Groupon.com or livingsocial.com to check if local hair salons are offering deals.
For your preteens/teens... Girls
Young pre teen girls usually like cute purses, lip gloss, and makeup. Poshmark offers a variety of great purses at great prices. Alot of items are new with tags. Not everything on poshmark is slightly used. (In case anyone had any misconceptions over the site)
This devil emoji purse is sure to make your preteens or teen girls very happy.
Boys...
I have a teen brother and he is semi-hard to shop for. (For different reasons though) One reason is that as a teenager all he wants is video games/electronics. I don't want to buy him any of that & so I usually get him clothes, socks, shoes etc...
Here are a few things if you want to stay away from electronic gifts.
My brother is always wearing bracelets. He's 13 and a big soccer fan.
This set here is from etsy. I really, really can not stress enough how great it is to support small businesses.
Support local and small businesses. Remember when you buy from a small business, an actual person does a happy dance when they get your order!
Another idea is a candy filled box. Simple to make and the junk food loving teen boy in your life will be pleased. You can include a variety of treats that they haven't tried. Check your Asian or Hispanic aisles at the grocery store. I'm sure you'll find yummy treats that your teen wouldn't mind trying. I love Mexican candies, but then again I'm Hispanic so I grew up eating them.
I hope you enjoyed my holiday gift guide & that it gives you ideas for your loved ones gifts.
Thank you so much for reading my thoughts and checking out my posts. I want to hear from you. Let me know what kind of gifts you are thinking of giving out. Or if you aren't doing gifts, tell me your reasons as well.
Xoxo,
Carla
