Extreme couponing, what I learned...

This time I'm going to be sharing a different type of post. I've mentioned before that I am a frugal shopper & I have to credit that to my old ways of couponing. I was introduced to couponing or extreme couponing by a friend when my son was about a year old.  I was hesitant at first, until I started getting A Lot of products for dirt cheap or free!

However getting all that was not easy. It was time consuming and tedious. I had to endure negative attitude from cashiers and the customer behind me who disliked me holding up the line.  Then there was an issue with space. I don't have space to store a "stockpile" as coupon pros like to call it.

I learned how to do the act of using coupons correctly thanks to Google.  I researched rules, store policies, coupon pages, etc.... All the answers can be found on Google.  When there's a will there's a way! Amirite?!?!

Fast forward to 2 years ago or close to 3; I had zero energy to get coupons, in order to do the transactions that would allow me to get those 6 bottles of shampoo for less than one grande Starbucks cup of coffee. I was over it.  But I did learn a few frugal shopping tips. & I want to share them with you.

I mentioned on the poshmark gifts post about the after holiday clearance shopping. It is a great way to get decorations or even non holiday items that can be useful for your household. I usually wait until the clearance is 90 percent off. Trust me, it will get there for most items. Only food does not get to 90%.

I suggest you follow at least one coupon page, just to get those dates for when items will be going on clearance. Start searching the #couponcommunity on Instagram or #clearancefinds

Learn some acronyms, such as YMMV=your mileage may vary. That means, just because someone found something for a specific price. It doesn't mean you will, or your situation will be exactly the same.

I love getting freebies. I'm registered on the pinch me website. Every so often they offer samples for you to start new products. It's a good way to test out new products.

Another way to get freebies is by registering with companies such as Bath and Body Works and Victoria's Secret (which coincidentally are owned by the same company). They usually send me coupons for a travel sized  lotion or panties. & really good coupons for their other products.  If you know of any other companies feel free to share in the comments.

Another resource I still use is the Ibotta app. I get cash back on certain items I buy.  Simple to use and you're getting cash back on items you we're buying either way.
Other websites/apps that offer cash back are ebates.com and topcashback & others. (Google is your friend)

I also use the Albertsons just for you app. Which is an affiliate store for Safeway/Vons (I believe). It has coupons you can clip and save money on your grocery trip. Check your local grocery stores for store coupons.

Thank you for reading my thoughts & I hope my tips help you save some money.

Xoxo,
Carla

Getting comfortable in my own skin...

This year I will be turning 30!!! Where and how that happened? I have no idea,,, What I do know, is that it has taken me a very long time to accept myself.  As a matter of fact, I'm currently still working on it.  Through the years I have struggled with learning to love myself.  Never completely content with my appearance.  Whether it was my teeth, face, features, body.  You name it!  In the past I have even contemplated getting surgery. What stopped me? The money of course! As well as the scary stories told by friends.  Which often times they hear from others.  Postpartum, I suffered from weight gain.  It took me years to loose the weight.  Even then, my body is not perfect.  Does that define me? Do my looks define me? Of course NOT! I know that; However that doesn't change the fact that I obsess over my weight, and constantly weigh myself. My point with all this rambling is, that it's never too late to learn to LOVE ...

Play! By Sephora September box...

This is a really late post/review for my Play! By Sephora box. I apologize but I have been swamped. School & life have been getting in the way. Adulting... amirite?(insert side eye) My first box arrived September 16. The second box arrived October 17. (I will be uploading the October box in a separate post) September box review: I was excited to open it, even though it's not an actual mystery box. (I also saw many posts spoiling the box contents) My favorite product is the perfume sample (of course, since I'm currently obsessed with perfume samples) check my searching for the perfect scent post here . The Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumnizing Fiber Gel is also something fun for me to try. Since my eyebrows are light & thin. This is definitely a product I could be interested on in the future. All in all, I was content with the box. Although I'm starting to think that I may only keep the subscription for 2 more months. I'm not entirely sure yet. We shal...

Florals for spring, groundbreaking!

Spring break means spring has arrived. (& that my son got a week off from school) <help!> T o celebrate and to get some much needed adult time, I went out for dinner with friends.  I also wanted to secretly take my new purse "out to town".  I mean, what better way to complete an outfit, than with a "spring-y" bag.   I paired this beautiful  top with jeans and nude ankle strap low block heels. (Also, I previously wore this top for my son's 5th birthday party ). The top can be worn off the shoulders or as a loser relaxed shoulder style. (As previously worn) It features bell sleeves and is a perfect transitional top. These shoes are slowly becoming one of my fave pair. I'm a big fan of the ankle strap heel look, and the fact that these have a low block heel make me very happy!  I also love that the heel features a cork look. Yellow is such a fun color for spring.  It will brighten up your look and day.  My top is a ...
